DOn't be panic, but I would suggest you not to go to Canada/Mexico for stamping. I heard through my friends that there is always a risk to deny visa stamping from Canada/Mexico, and the consular officer might ask you to apply your visa in your home country.
I lost my passport, which had F1 Visa, and chose to go back home and apply for H1B visa. Consular officer at Chennai Consulate asked copy of student visa and police report stating that my passport was lost/stolen.

To my horror, I accidently lost my wife's passport, i am such a stupid...She had the stamps for F-2 and H-4.
We have police report for the lost passport.
I already checked Indian embessy's website, they have instructions for duplicate passport.
My question is what happens to the Visa stamps. Does she have to go back to India to get it stamped? Can she go to coutry's like Canada and Mexico to get it stamped? would that be very difficult to get a new stamp?

"same geographical area" what does it mean. In US or in the same State or the 200 mile radius from your company head qtr. You need to contact a good attorney.

I have got EAD and AP.I think i would not have got them if the 140 is not filled.
I also know the date on which he filled. but employer is not sharing the receipt because there is no mandate for him to do so.
I wanted to know is there a way out.

What people usually do is get someone in their home country to be the Google Adsense beneficiary

Just change your registration info and set it to someone outside the US. I am not sure if they will ask you for any number if you are outside the US.

Btw, one twist I have is that my birth certificate is in Punjabi. How should I get that translated. Is there a procedure? Or simply should/can I get some equivalent, such as affidavite from my parents attested by some govt authority etc.,
Also, in case I can't make it now (depends on preponing air tickets etc), may I have to wait couple of more years. My priority date is Mar'05 and EB2. Some rough idea atleast..

Hi,
I am in unique situation and need help in decision making. I am on H1B and my labor is pending. My sixth year on H1B will start in three to four months. I do have couple of months of vacation that I can recover in six year of H1B.
My project ends in six months then I have been told that I have to leave the company and when I leave I will get good amount of money from my employer.
I might have other offer from some small (<100 employees) consulting company. My current employer is a giant (> 50,00) company.
I have two options:
1. Stick with my current company and take the money.
2. Switch to new employer right away and file new PERM.
My dilemma is:
With option 1, I might not have enough time at the end of my project to find new employer and file new PERM. Even if I find new employer, I might not have enough time on my H1B to extend it beyond six year. In, this case I will end up going back to my home country.
With option 2, my new PERM might be filed but I don�t know how reliable the company is as it is a body shopper and boast of no problem with the company. I also don�t know if I do H1B transfer will I get any kind of RFE? Will my PERM process face any issues? Will I get any stamping problems? How long my employment will last? I had my interview on the 30th and my passport has not been delivered yet. The VFS website says that the passport has not been handed over to them as of today. I was not given any 221g slip/form and the VO told me that i should be getting my PP in 5 days, it's been a week now and VFS hasn't got the PP yet. Is there something i should be worried about? I have my return ticket booked for next weekend and i am getting a bit nervous about the whole scenario. Does anyone know if there is any other way to get in touch with the New Delhi consulate?

Who are the guys making more than 250K? Why are they stuck in retrogression?
I am assuming that if you are salaried employee and making more than 250K, you should be at executive level qualified for EB1 visa - which is current for all countries.
These folks are most likely doctors...doctors salaries are in that range.

When you use Fireworks to make your animation, try converting to a symbol and using a tween, as in Flash...
I don't know if these things are tweenable... Alright, look I've attached one of the animated gifs to this post, so you can see what I mean. I've got this one down to 20K, but I need to make it lower. I haven't got much knowledge of Fireworks (at least not on the animating side), - I've found the Convert To Symbol thing, but it doesn't seem to reduce the file size. Each frame was originally a .psd, which was then Saved For Web as a gif, opened into Fireworks, then pasted into the animation.
Any ideas, bright spark? :)

I called up USCIS - Number: 1-800-375-5283, If you don't have a receipt number and want to get one Touch Key options to press are : 1-2-2-6-2-2-1
You need to say that your application is more than 90 days old, else you will be kicked out.
If you say that your application is more than 90 days old then you will be transferred to another person who will give you the receipt numbers.
For the record there should be one receipt number for each applicant (your dependents and you)) for each document (485, 131, 765)

We recd. our 485 approval last week and recd. the cards in the mail earlier this week. We were interviewed at the local USCIS for our 485's, 2 weeks ago. It went really smooth and case was approved the same day as the interview.
I would like to whole-heartedly thank IV core and all IV members. This site has been an amazing resource of information & support for us thru our journey. I became a IV member during the July 2007 fiasco. We were there at the IV rally in DC in Sept 2007, have attended local chapter meetings. We will continue to support IV in it's mission.

I agree TARP revceived firms cannot renew H1B after 6 years or apply for GC. Those rules may change as per time. Most of the firms who like to hire H1B. So don't know whether it will get better or worst for your situation.
I don't think above is correct!
Existing employees are eligible for extensions as of now and did not hear that the no gc clause for existing employees either!
In fact if u r in non-h1b working for TARP companies then u r even eligible for new H1. All rules apply for new hires only.
